PBS = swell

day 6:

missed yesterday. sorry.

but today's resource is so great, it makes up for it.

last year PBS did a special on Frontline on "The Age of AIDS." they've made the entire 4 hour program available for viewing online, as well as creating a central hub of resources, research, and information. this resource is hands down the best overview of AIDS that i have found online. hope you'll take some time to learn from it...

Communities Who Practice Justice

The Simple Way: A group of people including author/speaker Shane Claiborne who live in inner-city Philadelphia, practicing urban renewal and justice based community.

World Relief: The organization that we're partnering with at The Chapel to connect with people in Chaimite and Koca Misava, Mozambique. The facilitate church/village partnerships around the world with their holistic H.E.A.R.T. model.

Global Exchange: International human rights organization dedicated to promoting social, economic and environmental justice around the world. Great hub of information.

Global Freeloaders: Travel the world in a sustainable, community-based way. Global Freeloaders lets you connect and stay with real people in other countries for free while traveling.

International Justice Mission: IJM, founded just a few years ago in 1997 by Gary Haugen, is a group of human rights professionals, lawyers and public officials working within the established governmental systems to bring justice, freeing slaves and standing in the gap when victims are left without an advocate.

HIV/AIDS

chapelaids.org: A World AIDS Day website created for The Chapel in 2007. Has a lot of up-to-date information that's helpful any time during the year.

The Biology of AIDS: A step-by-step breakdown of the AIDS virus created by the BBC. Easy to understand and informative.

The Age of AIDS: The most complete AIDS resource I know of online. Created as a complmentary resource to PBS's documentary of the same title, you can now view the entire documentary online, as well as access the many other resources.

UNGASS: Created in response to the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS (UNGASS) in 2001, this site is one of the UN's main portals for general information related to AIDS.

AIDS Clock and Map: An interactive map and up-to-date clock showing the number of HIV infections.
